Serpentine Ladies Results and 3 Aside Mens
The Serpentine Ladies Polo tournament was played at the weekend with four teams competing in a hard fought contest. On Saturday Minninooka (Libby Lester, Julie Bolingbroke, Billie Mascart and Julie Nasir) were too strong for Alka Polo (Jemma Lawrence, Marijke Thomas – filling in for Many Marriott, Katie Grimmond, Charlotte Fisher). In the second game Australian Premium Feeds (Kathryn McNee, Trish Jones, Marnie Hamersley Smith and Chloe Kiely) beat Tanglefoot (Marijke Thomas, Jade Pinkney, Hannah Gebbie and Erin Wheatley).
Katie Grimmond flew over from Queensland and Billie Mascart flew in from New South Wales which greatly enhanced the competition. The standard of polo in all the Ladies games was very high with some strong hitting and riding off.
The final was won by Australian Premium Feeds.
The subsidiary game was won by Tanglefoot.
Most valuable player for handicap was Marnie Hamersley Smith
Best Player on ground was Billie Mascart
Champion Pony was Chloe Kiely’s “Womba”
The 3 aside was a good competition with fast polo and after two days all teams were equal on points with two wins apiece. The winners were Polo Kidogo (Rodwell brothers Greg and Pete and Brett Kiely) who won on a countback.
Serpentine Polo Club would like to thank the Department of Local Govt Sports and the WAPA for the grant which enabled two players to come from over east. We would also like to thank Julie Bolingbroke who worked tirelessly to get the players together and bring in sponsors for the prizes.
Thank you to Owen and Julie Readhead for the loan of their ponies to Billie Mascart for the weekend and to Clinton and Erin Wheatley for the loan of their ponies to Katie Grimmond.
Thank you to Reuben and Daralyn from Tanglefoot wines for the generous donation of wine gifts for the winners and runners up and the donation of the Champion Pony perpetual trophy for the Ladies tournament.
Thank you to Mother Earth Aromatherapy, Alkapellets ph plus and Jarrahdale roses for the gifts for players.
